Common questions

Footlight Saga is a one-man business. If you are looking to collaborate, you are in fact engaging with Jop Gorris. As he sought to keep his own name/initials from becoming a brand, he came up with the company’s name as a means to give his activities a banner. Footlight Saga and Jop Gorris are the same, yet differentiate between business and artist.

Both! But definitely an artist before a producer. His own projects begin with an expressive desire, subsequently followed by the productional side. Regarding client collaborations, the balance between artistry and production are relative to the inquiry. No matter the assignment, the integrity of art must be protected in favor of mere supply. That is why Jop has banned AI from his toolkit.

Jop loves to put his teeth into ambitious projects, but also wants to support individual artists and private people in their expressive journey. Footlight Saga differentiates between commissions and services to meet both extremes.

Bigger clients most likely need to inquire a commission. These assignments are led by the requirements of the client and need a customizable approach. Typically, filmmakers and audiovisual producers seek this type of collaboration. As the result of irregular variables – such as time and budget – fees can only be determined through inquiry.

Smaller clients will be better off with a service. There is no compromise on expertise, but customization is compressed in accordance with a predictable workflow and low rates. If you are an artist looking to showcase your talent to clients, then you should go with this one!

Copyright is an interesting topic. It may protect the creator of certain content, but what about the person who inquires it? Who owns the rights of a photo: the one behind or in front of the camera? Expectations can get messy really fast if these are not discussed in advance.

Footlight Saga believes that clients should not feel strangled by vague and/or intimidating licenses. For services, there are predetermined agreements based on fair and intended use. In regards to commissions, all of that is relative.
