Common questions
Footlight Saga is a one-man business. If you are looking to collaborate, you are in fact engaging with Jop Gorris. As he sought to keep his own name/initials from becoming a brand, he came up with the company’s name as a means to give his activities a banner. Footlight Saga and Jop Gorris are the same, yet differentiate between business and artist.
Both! But definitely an artist before a producer. His own projects begin with an expressive desire, subsequently followed by the productional side. Regarding client collaborations, the balance between artistry and production are relative to the inquiry. No matter the assignment, the integrity of art must be protected in favor of mere supply. That is why Jop has banned AI from his toolkit.
Custom inquiries are project-based. Think of film, theater and music. As many variables influence the production, details should be discussed to determine content, fees and deadlines.
Demo inquiries are a special service to help actors and other artists with presenting themselves to potential clients, such as casting agencies and bookers. A standardized workflow makes it possible to detirmine rates up front, and helps to keep them balanced for this target group. Some services offer optional expansions to accommodate requirements that might differ from region to region.
Copyright is an interesting topic. It may protect the creator of certain content, but what about the person who inquires it? Who owns the rights of a photo: the one behind or in front of the camera? Expectations can get messy really fast if these are not discussed in advance.
Footlight Saga believes that clients should not feel strangled by vague and/or intimidating licenses. For services, there are predetermined agreements based on fair and intended use. In regards to commissions, all of that is relative.
