Anti-AI Statement

Although Jop applauds innovative tools that support the production of arts, he finds that artificial intelligence condemns it. Artistry is inherently human and can be a way of spiritual growth that helps with understanding the world. A bot has no spirit, nor can it express itself. One who produces art without doing the work is merely a commander, missing out on the opportunity to discover themselves. Meanwhile, each prompt pushes a data center to deplete valuable recourses and to plagiarize someone else’s blood, sweat and tears.

We have to find a way to innovate without compromising ourselves and everything.

Does this statement mean that Jop refrains from using any AI tool whatsoever? It depends on the developers’ overall impact on the world. Tools that solemnly provide practical solutions (like image resolution enhancement) can be considered of supportive nature. Similar technology has existed for a longer time, and whether their refined models should be dubbed AI is debateble. Jop’s issue lies with generative AI: prompts and (indirect) fraud leading both workflow and creation. Unfortunately, not all the nuances are always evident or traceable.
